Catalloid Products was originally founded by biotech industry visionary, Dr. Robert Bohannon, who created over a dozen patents, proprietary technologies, & over 4 decades of experience!

Today operations are owned and operated by Seven Bohannon, President, and assisted by technicians and research scientists.

 
Industry Expert & Visionary

Catalloid Products, Inc. was founded by Dr. Robert Bohannon and now is owned and operated by Seven Bohannon.  Over the years, we have created hundreds of diagnostic tests, from small to very large companies, including development of the OraQuick(TM) HIV saliva test, Sure Screen (TM) DOA system, biowarfare tests for DHS and industry, HIV, HCV, HBV, TB, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, 19 drug of abuse tests, >50 plant pathogen tests, (and more), using whole blood, plasma, sera, hair, tears, fecal matter, meconium, sweat, urine, body parts, plants, soil, water, air, cultures, among other various sample types.



Catalloid Products has mutiple labs, dedicated and specialized for various projects and clean spaces to avoid contamination (especially for PCR testing), as well as lab space for safety from hazardous materials & able to work with the many different sample types & projects that have already been undertaken or may be in the future.  We have ample space for teams of scientists for any project needed, room to expand, and as needed we have hired both Post Docs from major universities, as well as recruited scientists well versed in the technologies of interest.

Why Outsource?

Outsourcing often gets a bad rap, sometimes for good reason. However, consider the costs of hiring new people; training, integrating, supporting, & then keeping them once a project is finished...verses hiring a group already fully trained & experienced, like Catalloid Products Inc.; plus there is not a need to continue supporting when a project is finished (or priorities change mid-stream and then you suddenly have to terminate a project). Thus, what is that worth?  What is it worth to get a job done 6 months, a year, or even many years earlier in terms of sales? What will it cost if the project or assay never gets done?

 

These are reasons why outsourcing can:

  1. be cheaper than hiring a full-time staff for R&D and QA/QC, plus additional expertise in the field to assist in FDA trials & guidance in gaining FDA approval, as an example.

  2. yield quicker turn-around times, as we are experts in assay development & other techniques/products in the field, taking projects from an idea all the way through FDA trials if desired.

  3. be more cost-effective to leverage our small, yet experienced team of highly skilled, qualified scientists to develop the assay or product you need ("yesterday" as we often hear)!

How Does It Work?

We work to quickly identify your needs: establish clearly defined Product Definitions, Parameters & Goals/phases; working within ISO:13485 guidelines; and create a realistic research program & timeline to develop your assay using your staff, augmented with our expertise. Your company then owns all IP and SOPs developed for your company without further obligation.  We strive to make the process simple & straightforward, efficient, effective! 
 

But what about our track record and success rate? We have a vast track record of success (hundreds of assays and projects developed between our team's efforts spanning more than 8 decades of experience)! Every project has its challenges, and while not every project ends up being developed fully (usually due to lack of funding), it is quite rare for our group.  Why and how? Although setbacks can occur in assay development that creates an impasse, our knowledge and expertise lends itself to resolving setbacks & overcoming unforeseen issues, with a success rate of ~99% of the time! No one can claim 100% success rate...but our track record of only a couple out of hundreds of successful projects/assays yields this incredible track record! We report whatever the data shows, be it successful or not, yet also offer innovative solutions when problems may arise or success doesn't transpire immediately for a project. We are a determined & highly motivated team that takes our craft seriously with the utmost integrity!
